Portsmouth Crash Leaves Two Dead, Alcohol a Factor; Charges Pending

Two people were killed Thursday night in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Elm Avenue and High Street, according to the Portsmouth Police Department.

Officers responded to the scene just before 11 p.m. and discovered three vehicles involved in the collision. Preliminary findings indicate that a vehicle traveling westbound on High Street struck another vehicle. The force of the impact pushed the second vehicle into a pickup truck.

The two occupants of the vehicle that was initially struck — 23-year-old Ny Asia Hill and 24-year-old Deandre Lilly — were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the crash was transported to a hospital. Authorities have not released details about the extent of that driver’s injuries.

Police confirmed that alcohol was a factor in the crash and stated that charges are pending as the investigation continues.
