GADSDEN, Alabama — Authorities are investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 65-year-old woman early Sunday morning in Gadsden.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash occurred around 6 a.m. on February 15 along Riverview Drive near Tillison Road within Gadsden city limits in Etowah County.

The victim has been identified as Kathy N. Hamilton, 65, of Elkmont. Authorities say Hamilton was driving a 2000 GMC 1500 when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a fence, and entered a nearby pond. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Two passengers, Hali B. Bridges, 30, and Chance B. Bridges, 29, were also inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. Both sustained injuries and were transported to Gadsden Regional Medical Center for treatment. Their current conditions have not been released.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division responded and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officials say they are reviewing roadway conditions, vehicle factors, and other relevant information to determine what led to the incident.

Authorities remind motorists to exercise caution, particularly during early morning hours when visibility and road conditions can present additional hazards.
