Glover Park Mom Fatally Shot; Estranged Partner Dies by Suicide After Abducting 3-Year-Old Son

A domestic violence incident in Glover Park ended tragically on Wednesday, February 11, claiming the life of 34-year-old Rayven Amuan Edwards and ending with the apparent suicide of her estranged partner. Their 3-year-old son was safely recovered.

The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded around 4:45 p.m. to a shooting at an apartment complex in Glover Park. Officers discovered Edwards had been fatally shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 10-year-old daughter sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and an 8-year-old boy, who witnessed the shooting, was unharmed.

Authorities identified the suspected shooter as 35-year-old Stephon Marquis Jeter, Edwards’ estranged partner and father of their 3-year-old son, Million Jeter. After the shooting, Jeter fled with the toddler, triggering an AMBER Alert and a multi-agency search.

Prince George’s County police later located Jeter’s vehicle in Maryland and pursued it into Southeast D.C., where the vehicle crashed. Officers found Jeter deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The 3-year-old boy was not in the vehicle and was later found safe at a family member’s home.

Officials noted that Jeter had a criminal history, including a prior conviction for conspiring to traffic firearms into D.C.

Neighbors described the scene as horrifying. One witness told WUSA9, “I heard screaming, which I thought was kids. Blood-curdling. A young girl was there with blood coming down from her arm saying her stepdad had just shot her mom and she thinks she’s dead.”

Interim Police Chief Jeffrey Carroll called the incident a tragic escalation of a domestic dispute. Jennifer Wesberry of DC Safe, a nonprofit supporting domestic violence victims, emphasized the profound impact on the community and children, saying, “It’s devastating to the community. It’s devastating to the children. The kind of generational impact that it has is profound.”

The Glover Park community continues to mourn Edwards’ death, the attempted harm to her children, and the shocking loss of life that followed. Authorities continue to investigate and offer support to affected families.
