Suspect Identified in Woodlake Double Homicide Investigation

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double homicide that occurred early Saturday morning in the Woodlake community of Vass.

Deputies responded around 7:45 a.m. on February 14, 2026, to a reported shooting at a residence on Daphne Lane. Upon arrival, they discovered two adults, ages 28 and 21, deceased inside the home.

Authorities say the suspect fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. Deputies secured the area and conducted an extensive canvass of the Woodlake neighborhood and surrounding communities while investigators processed evidence and pursued leads.

Detectives have identified Caleb Hayden Fosnaugh, 25, of Ohio, as a suspect in the case. Warrants have been issued charging him with breaking and entering and two counts of murder. Investigators believe Fosnaugh left Moore County following the shooting, and efforts to locate him are ongoing.

Fosnaugh is believed to be driving a white 2018 Ford Mustang with a black front driver-side fender, possibly bearing an Ohio license plate. Authorities warn he should be considered armed and dangerous and advise the public not to approach him.

Anyone who sees Fosnaugh or the vehicle is urged to call 911 immediately or contact the Moore County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 910-947-4444.

The victims’ identities are being withheld pending family notification. Investigators believe the incident was isolated and involved known parties.
