One Dead, Two Injured in Shooting on West 70th Street in Shreveport

A shooting on West 70th Street in Shreveport has left one man dead and two others injured, according to police.

The incident happened around 10:12 p.m. on April 5 in a parking lot near a Murphy gas station. Officers with the Shreveport Police Department responded to the scene and found multiple victims.

Police say a man who was sitting in the back seat of a silver Impala was shot during the incident. He was taken to Ochsner LSU Health, where he later died from his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Jerquavious Johnson Jr., 25, of Bossier City. He was pronounced dead at 11:37 p.m., according to the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office.

Two other people were injured in the shooting, though their conditions have not been fully released.

Investigators say at least three vehicles were struck by gunfire, including:

  • A silver Impala
  • A white Chrysler 300
  • A red Nissan

A heavy police presence, with around 20 units, responded to secure the scene and begin the investigation.

No suspects or motive have been identified at this time. Officials say this marks the fifth homicide of the year in the area.

The investigation remains ongoing.
