21-Year-Old Killed in Rollover Crash on Route 1 in South Brunswick
A tragic crash in South Brunswick has claimed the life of Matthew Slaski, a 21-year-old man from Branchburg.
According to police, the fatal accident happened Wednesday evening around 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of the Route 1 South off-ramp and New Road in South Brunswick.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2017 Toyota Camry was attempting to make a left turn from the southbound Route 1 off-ramp onto New Road, heading eastbound. During the turn, the vehicle collided with a 2025 Audi Q5 that was traveling westbound.
The impact caused the Audi to lose control and overturn. Slaski, who was driving the Audi, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered critical injuries.
Emergency responders rushed him to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the Toyota Camry sustained only minor injuries, authorities said.
Following the crash, New Road was closed for several hours as emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene. Members of the Kendall Park Fire Department also assisted with the response.
The incident remains under investigation, and authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.
This marks another devastating loss, as a young life was cut short in a sudden and tragic accident.
