Sanborn, New York — The community of Sanborn is mourning the tragic and untimely death of 35-year-old Alexis Skoczylas, who was found deceased inside her Buffalo Street residence on February 14, 2026. Her passing has left family, friends, and neighbors devastated as authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

According to the Lewiston Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 5:14 p.m. for a welfare check. Upon arrival, they discovered Skoczylas inside the home, where she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

In connection with the case, 53-year-old Lance L. Woods has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He was transported to the Niagara County Jail and is awaiting arraignment.

The investigation involves multiple agencies, including the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, Niagara Falls Police Department, Buffalo Police Department, and the New York State Attorney General’s Office. Authorities say the case remains active.
