Woman Found Shot Dead in Walmart Parking Lot; Ex-Partner Charged with Murder

A woman has been identified after a deadly shooting in a Walmart parking lot in Nitro, West Virginia, prompting a homicide investigation and an arrest.

Authorities say 40-year-old Misty Rose Williams, a Walmart employee, was found unresponsive inside her vehicle Monday morning at the Nitro Marketplace location. Deputies were initially called for a welfare check after coworkers became concerned when she failed to return from her break.

When officers arrived, they broke a rear window to access the car and discovered Williams had suffered an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an investigation, Eric Dewayne Richmond, 54, who shares children with Williams, was identified as the suspect. He has since been charged with first-degree murder.

Officials say the incident appears to be isolated, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The case remains under active investigation as authorities continue to gather more details.
