17-Year-Old Shot and Killed Outside Kansas City Apartment Complex

A 17-year-old boy has died after a shooting Tuesday afternoon outside an apartment complex in Kansas City, authorities confirmed.

According to the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department, officers were dispatched around 2:43 p.m. to the area of North 74th Drive and Armstrong Avenue following reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found Jai Barnes, Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound.

Barnes was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Police say no suspects are currently in custody, and investigators have not released details about a possible motive. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under active investigation.
