A deadly shooting in Houston has left a man dead after a violent attack while he was sitting inside his vehicle.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to the scene near Laura Koppe Road and Hirsch Road, where they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle with shattered windows and heavy damage from gunfire.

The victim has been identified as Floydrick Washington, a man believed to be in his 30s. He was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Preliminary information indicates that Washington was stopped at a traffic light when another vehicle—possibly a white SUV—pulled alongside him. An individual reportedly exited the SUV armed with what investigators believe may have been a rifle and opened fire, striking the vehicle multiple times before fleeing the area toward US-59.

Authorities say evidence at the scene, including shell casings, suggests a high-powered weapon may have been used. The shooting is believed to be targeted.

At this time, no suspect description has been released, and no arrests have been made.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to come forward as they continue working to piece together what led to the deadly attack.
