A 16-year-old boy has been identified after a deadly drive-by shooting Tuesday morning in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago.
Police say Kenyae Franklin, 16, was fatally shot around 9:13 a.m. in the 7800 block of South Coles Avenue, near 78th Street and Coles Avenue, close to a local church.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting and found Kenyae suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to preliminary information, Kenyae was walking outside when a white vehicle approached. The vehicle reportedly had three to four individuals inside, and one of them opened fire before they fled the scene.
No arrests have been made at this time. Area 2 detectives are continuing to investigate and are working to identify those responsible.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
