25-Year-Old Killed in Overnight Shooting in Birmingham’s Kingston Community
A 25-year-old man was killed in an overnight shooting in Birmingham’s Kingston community, according to authorities.
The victim has been identified as Brionn Arronjaae Orr, a Birmingham resident.
Police say the shooting happened around 11:42 p.m. Tuesday at an apartment in the 4600 block of Roscoe Avenue inside the Rev. Dr. Morrell Todd Homes. Officers were alerted to the gunfire through the city’s Shot Spotter detection system.
When officers arrived, they learned Orr had already been taken to the hospital by private vehicle. He was later pronounced dead at UAB Hospital.
Investigators say a suspect has been detained and is currently being held in the Birmingham City Jail on a 48-hour hold while the investigation continues.
The shooting marks the second homicide in that block in just over a month. Last month, 23-year-old Cornelius Lee Evans was killed in a separate shooting near the same location.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Birmingham police or Crime Stoppers as the investigation remains ongoing.
